Personal Taxes Checklist
Basic Personal Info
☐ Besides your name, we also need your SIN, marital status, date of birth, and current mailing address
☐ Names and birthdates of your spouse and any minor children that live with you
☐ Do you have elderly parents or infirm adult children that live with you?
☐ Do you or anyone else in your household qualify for the Disability Tax Credit?
☐ Did you sell your home in the year?
☐ Do you own any foreign property?
☐ Are you a resident of Canada?
☐ Did any of the above change in the year?
☐ By default, we always provide your name and address to Elections Canada. If you don’t want this, please let us know.
Income
☐ All T4’s, T5’s, and other tax slips that you have received for the year
☐ If you are in the service industry, the amount of tips you earned that are not included on your T4 (yes, believe it or not, they actually tax that)
☐ Did you receive spousal support payments?
☐ Do you have rental income? If so, we need:
Details of the other owners, if you are not the sole owner
Address of the property
Total rental income received
Totals of the following amounts applicable to the property: insurance, mortgage interest, management fees, repairs and maintenance, property tax, and utilities
If you reported rental income in the previous year, we need the prior year’s rental income and expenses (form T776), including CCA. These should be in your tax package or you can request them from your prior accountant.
Did you purchase any appliances or incur any other expenses that have a lasting value?
